13 February 2012 - Port Fairy, Kilarney and koalas

Today we headed into Port Fairy for a look around. We walked out to the light house on Griffiths Island and around the town itself. An odd place, the town centre is not near the coast and it does not have the feel of a seaside town.

We headed back to Kilarney beach and after lunch went down to the beach itself for sand castle building and crab finding. The wind had picked up again and it was quite cool so we did not stay to long before heading back to the campsite.

We decided to have a BBQ out at Tower Hill, a local nature reserve. There were emus strolling around the park when we arrived and we saw more as we headed off on a 30 min walk. While we were waiting for our dinner to cook, a koala perched himself in a small tree right next to our table. We have never seen on so close before and it was great to watch him munch away. We spied another two koalas in another tree next to us so it was well worth the visit.

I headed out for a spot of fishing when we got back to camp but as usual, no bites, while the people fishing next to me pulled 3 or 4 in while I was there.
