18th January - Walking the Streets of Adelaide

Nick went for an early morning ride to check out the lay of the land, while we enjoyed sleep-in….well til 7am at least. The kids woke looking for the bouncing pillow, which I think will become their favourite part of the trip.

After checking out the camping ground and the kids voting it the best ever, we headed for Glenelg to sample the coffee Adelaide has on offer. And a big yay for good coffee again at Cibo.

Em and Lachie loved the tram ride to the city, and from there we explored Adelaide on foot. It didn’t take long to spot Bladleys’ an old style sweet shop, The kids reveled in their rainbow lolly pops – the biggest and best ever – and we continued to check out the streets of the city….Rundle Mall, North Adelaide, the Torrens, the Botanic gardens and back to the Tour Down Under “City”.

Em and Lachie scored hats, water bottles, beach balls and all sort of cyclying paraphernalia which had them so excited. Lachie played football around the village and eventually we tore them away, but the beach balls came home still blown up for the tram ride back to Glenelg.

We finished the day with fish and chips on the beach at Glenelg and a run and splash in the water. Of course Lachie left soaked as always, but a great time was had.

Shattered Nick and myself have vowed to have a day off tomorrow and just chill at the beach…….lets see if we manage?
