8 January 2012- Mountain biking Geurie

On our way from Wellington to Dubbo a few days ago, we saw a 'MTB' sign at at town called Geurie and found some well marked tracks maintained by Wellington Council and local MTB'ers. Today we headed out to ride them and they were excellent. For anyone into the MTB scene, the tracks are part of the trail network looked after by http://www.cworbc.org.au/about/ Central West Off Road Bicycle Club. We met Lynton, the Events Co-ordinator for the Geurie Bald Hill tracks, who also happens to live right at the trail head, rather convenient. They certainly seem like an enthusiastic bunch and have got nearly 20km of trails together in a small reserve, pretty much in the middle of nowhere!

A quiet afternoon followed with some packing in preparation for tomorrow's departure. Hopefully we can get on the road by 9am as we have a long drive to Wilcania ahead of us. We had originally planned to spend a couple of days getting to Broken Hill but after looking at the sights available en-route, decided it would be better to get there a day earlier and head out for day trips from there.
